John Grindlay, the director of the Eydon Kettle Co Ltd popped into the Ethical Superstore office today. The Eydon Kettle Co. Ltd are the manufacturers and Suppliers of the popular Storm Kettle. We thought this a fine opportunity to seize John for a few moments and quiz his outdoorsy engineering brain on the history of the Storm Kettle, who he is and what he does.
Mothers are great. They do so much for us every day, but sometimes we forget to say thank you quite as much as we ought to.
This is where Mother’s Day steps in – it’s a chance for us all to think about our Mums, and most importantly, it’s a chance to say a great big Thank You.
Here at EthicalSuperstore we’ve got loads to thank our Mum’s for…
But what is the best way to say thank you?
Our number one tip is to make sure you put thought into it – after all, whether you can be with your Mother on Mother’s Day or not, they definitely deserve recognition and some top notch looking after – they’ve certainly earned it.
So we’ve racked our brains and come up with a masterplan…
…just click the promise voucher above, print it out, then fill it in as appropriate and deliver. Don’t limit yourself to Mother’s Day with this one – You could give a voucher any day of the year as it doesn’t actually need to cost you a penny – it’s definitely a case of ‘the thought that counts’, making it a perfect Credit Crunch busting Mother’s Day gift idea.
It’s the perfect way to treat your Mother, because you can tailor it perfectly – and even better for your Mum, she can cash in your gift whenever she fancies.
This is a gift that keeps on giving – it’s a surefire Mother’s Day winner!
Sophi Tranchell, Managing Director of the biggest Fairtrade chocolate company in the UK, talks to Ethical Superstore about her hopes for the financial crisis to transform businesses for the better; competing in a market with multinationals and taking Fairtrade chocolate to America.
With Fairtrade Fortnight less than four weeks away, Ethical Superstore talks to everyone’s favourite newsreader George Alagiah about getting active for Fairtrade; ethics during the credit crunch and his hopes for the future of Fairtrade.
As part of our Organic Fortnight Special (6-21 September), Sophie Grigson talks to Ethical Superstore about her solution to cooking organically in times of the credit-crunch, why she loves Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and her long-term devotion to organics.
Ethical Superstore: What first switched you on to organic food? Sophie Grigson: I’ve always had an interest in organic farming systems but it became more relevant when I had children. You have a huge responsibility to do the best and it made sense to give my children food that was as pure and untainted by chemicals as possible. But as I got to know more, the biggest motivation became protecting our countryside – my children don’t see the diversity of birds and flowers that I saw as a child – and conserving our global environment.
To big up this year’s Organic Fortnight (6-21 September), Director of the Soil Association, Patrick Holden, talks to Ethical Superstore about Prince Charles, “the Lidl effect” and whether Britain can go ‘organic only’.
Prince Charles recently spoke out about GMOs – is he a good ambassador for the organic movement? Patrick Holden: All over the world he is regarded as a global leader for sustainable agriculture. He is deeply committed to do everything he can to support a different approach to the current system – one that uses huge amounts of fossil fuels and quite simply won’t work in 10 or 20 years time. He is aware of that and I think he shows great courage in speaking up about issues such as GMOs, at the risk of controversy and I admire him for that. So yes, I think he is a great ambassador for the movement and long may it remain so.
